Log files

Every time you visit our website, information is automatically sent to our website’s server by your browser and temporarily stored in a so-called log file.

The following files are created and stored without any action on your part until their automated erasure:

- the IP address of the requesting computer (anonymised),
- the date and time of access,
- the website from which you reach our website,
- your computer's operating system and the browser you are using,
- the name of your internet access provider.

These data are collected and processed with the aim of enabling our website to be used (establishing a connection), guaranteeing long-term system security and stability, facilitating the technical administration of the network infrastructure and enabling our Internet offering to be optimised; they are also used for internal statistical purposes. The IP address is only evaluated in the event of attacks on the network infrastructure as well as – without us drawing any conclusions with regard to your identity – for statistical purposes. This is done on the legal basis of weighing up interests in accordance with Art. 6 (1 f) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). If it is necessary to retain log files for longer periods for evidentiary purposes, such files will be exempted from erasure until the matter in question has been finally resolved.

Cookies and web analysis

We continually strive to optimise our online offerings and to make your visit to our website a pleasant one. The logging of visits to our website through log files and the use of cookies and web analysis are important tools in this process. The legal basis for such data processing using cookies — including for web analysis purposes — is established by our legitimate interests in analysing, optimising and efficiently running our website in accordance with Art. 6 (1 f) of the General Data Protection Regulation.

Cookie information and cookie management

During your visit to our website, cookies are automatically saved to your computer. Cookies are text files containing a pseudonymous ID which therefore does not permit it to be attributed to any particular person. Only we can read these cookies.

We use general-use cookies, functional cookies and performance-related cookies on our website.

We employ general-use cookies to ensure user-friendly enjoyment of our website. Certain actions performed by you are saved for the duration of the particular visit to our website to enable you to get the best use out of our webpages. These cookies are deleted when you close the web browser.

Functional cookies enable us to adapt our website to fit the personal preferences of our users to the greatest possible extent. We save the selections made by a user — their country or language settings, for example.

Performance-related cookies help us to measure the use of our website. For example, we can find out which sections you visit the most frequently. With the aid of this information, we can identify any potential to further improve our website.

Most internet browsers accept cookies automatically. As a user of our website, you can decide yourself by means of your browser settings whether you accept or prevent cookies or wish to be informed if you receive a new cookie. You can also delete cookies that have already been placed. If you delete your cookies, this may mean that any opt-out cookies are also deleted and have to be reactivated by you. As a result of deactivating cookies, you may not be able to use all the functions of our internet offering, or our web pages may not display correctly.

Web analysis

We use cookies on our website that facilitate analysis of your surfing habits. For this purpose we use Google Analytics, a Web analysis service of Google Inc. (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA ("Google")). Google Analytics makes use of cookies that are stored on your computer and enable your use of the website to be analysed. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is normally transferred to a Google server in the United States and stored there. If, however, IP anonymisation is activated on this website, your IP address is previously shortened by Google within Member States of the European Union or in other countries which are contracting parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area.

Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address transferred to a Google server in the United States and shortened there. Acting on behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activities and to provide other services to the website operator that are connected with use of the website and of the Internet. The IP address communicated by your browser in the context of Google Analytics is not combined with other Google data. You may prevent the storage of cookies through appropriate settings in your browser software; we would, however, point out that in this case you may not be able to make full use of all the functions offered by this website. In addition, you can prevent the collection of the data generated by the cookie relating to your use of the website (incl. your IP address) for Google and the processing of these data by Google if you download and install the browser plugin that can be accessed via the following link.

The current link is https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en.
You can prevent the collection of your data by Google Analytics by clicking on the following link. An opt-out cookie is placed that prevents the future collection of your data when you visit this website: Deactivate Google Analytics

We would inform you that on this website Google Analytics is supplemented by the code "gat._anonymizeIp();" in order to ensure anonymised tracking of IP addresses ("IP masking").

Social Media

On our website we use social plugins ("plugins") of various social networks: Facebook.com, LinkedIn.com, Xing.com and Twitter.com. These plugins, the purpose of which is to facilitate social interaction for you (sharing), can be identified according to their respective logo. We use a solution in which merely visiting our website does not result in the transfer of data.

It is only when you click on a plugin that your browser establishes a direct connection with the servers of the respective social network. The content of the plugin is transferred directly to your browser by the network, which integrates it into the website. Insofar as these networks have their registered office outside the EU or the EEA, we therefore cannot exclude the possibility that your data are transferred to a server outside the EU / EEA and processed there. Since we cannot influence the scope of the data collected by the respective network through this plugin or the period for which they are used, the information provided here is based on our level of knowledge:

Integration of the plugin informs the respective social network that you have accessed the corresponding page of our website. If you are logged into one of the social networks, this network can allocate such information to your profile. If you do not want the network to collect information about your visit to our website, you must therefore first log out of the network. Nevertheless, it remains possible in principle for the network to discover and store your IP address, even though you have not registered with it or have not logged in. We also do not have any information at our disposal regarding erasure of the data collected by the plugin provider.

The plugin provider stores the data collected about you as user profiles and utilises them for purposes of advertising, market research and/or the needs-oriented design of its website. Such evaluation takes place in particular (also for users who have not logged in) to present customised advertising and to inform other users of the social network about your activities on our website.

You have a right to object to the creation of these user profiles by notifying the service providers.

For further information please see the data privacy notices of the respective social networks:

Newsletter

We send out newsletters only with the consent of the recipient. Your e-mail address is collected as part of the registration process. If you cancel your newsletter subscription, we may store the cancelled e-mail addresses for up to three years on the basis of our legitimate interests before deleting them in order to be able to prove that consent had previously been given. The processing of such data is restricted to the purpose of potentially defending against claims. In the event of obligations to respect objections on a permanent basis, we retain the right to store the e-mail address solely for this purpose in a blacklist.

The registration procedure is logged on the basis of our legitimate interests for the purpose of documenting an orderly process. If we commission a service provider to send out e-mails, this is done on the basis of our legitimate interests in an efficient and secure delivery system.

Communication with us

If you wish to send us a message using the contact form or the feedback field, the communication between your browser and our servers is SSL-encrypted. You can see this in your web browser because the text “https://” is displayed in the website address. Your IP address is stored in anonymised form.

We store data which you enter in the contact form (name, e-mail address and message text) and use them exclusively for the purpose of improving our Internet offering and communicating individually with you. The legal basis for processing the data is established by the granting of consent by the user in accordance with Art. 6 (1 a) of the General Data Protection Regulation.

Notice of your right of objection

If we process your personal data on the basis of our legitimate interests in accordance with Art. 6 (1) (1 f) GDPR, you have the right under Art. 21 GDPR to object to the processing of your personal data provided there are reasons for doing so which derive from your special situation or the objection relates to direct advertising. In the latter case, you have a general right of objection which we shall act on without the specification of any particular situation. If you would like to make use of your right to withdraw consent or your right to object, please get in touch with our Data Protection Team using the contact details specified above.
